Reflexology

Reflexology is a method for activating the healing powers of the body. From ancient texts, we know that the early Chinese, Japanese, Indians, Russians and Egyptians worked on the feet to promote good health.

This ancient art was rediscovered by Dr. William Fitzgerald in 1913 and was known as zone therapy.

In the 1930’s Eunice Ingham, a physiotherapist, further developed this zone therapy into what is now known as Reflexology.

Eunice Ingham observed that congestion or tension in any part of the foot is mirrored in the corresponding part of the body.

Stress cannot be avoided. We live with it and in it everyday.

Stress can become a problem, when we fail to manage it well. The body’s defences break down and we become more susceptible to illness and disease.

Reflexology reduces stress by generating deep relaxation and harmonizing the body’s energy.

Every part of the body is operated by messages carried back and forth along neural pathways. Sensory nerve endings send

information to the spinal cord and brain. The brain and spinal cord send instructions to the organs and muscles. The neural pathways are both living tissue and electrical channels, and can become polluted by many factors. When neural pathways are impaired, nerve function is impeded.

The reflexologist stimulates more than 7,000 nerves when touching the feet, and encourages the opening and clearing of neural pathways.
